The municipality of Materi located on the fringe of the National Pendjari is a hidden gem of community tourism. On the sacred hill of Mamoussa, you can observe ruins in which communities took refuge in the early 1920s to avoid joining the French army during the First World War.

On the hillside, you may be lucky enough to see Rock Hyrax, also in Pendjari National Park. You can visit the Pass-Tyam agro-ecological farm in Lissahou with on-site accommodation on offer. Choose a fish from the fish pond and braise it over a traditional wood fire in the company of local farmers and learners.

This is one of the few agrotourism sites in Atacora. Further on, the ostrich farm of Dassari offers visitors the opportunity to discover the majestic birds that once inhabited the area.
